Christman Genipperteinga is a mythical German bandit and serial killer from the 16th century, who is said to have murdered 964 individuals, from his youth and over a 13-year period, from 1568 until his capture in 1581. This article retells the story of Christman Genipperteinga as contained in a contemporary pamphlet from 1581, as well as placing that pamphlet, and reports of similar type, within the literary and historical context in which they appeared.
