Believe it or not, the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album wasn't presented until 1996. That's the year that trio Naughty by Nature took home the first-ever trophy in the category, winning the prize for their chart-topping album Poverty's Paradise. The Recording Academy had been slow to recognize the quickly growing genre, but voters seemed eager to make up for lost time.
