Trevor

Trevor is a 1994 American short film written by James Lecesne, produced by Randy Stone and Peggy Rajski and directed by Peggy Rajski. It is the story of a gay 13-year-old boy who, when rejected by friends because of his sexuality, makes an attempt to take his life. The film was inspired by a NPR radio broadcast discussing teen suicide, claiming that one third of teen suicides affects LGBTQ youth. It tied for an Academy Award in 1995 for Best Short Subject with Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life. In 1998 Trevor inspired the founding of the The Trevor Project, a 24/7 crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. ... more on Wikipedia
