It&#39;s a true feat of screenwriting when a movie&#39;s plot comes full circle. Developing a story that credibly boomerangs takes a great deal of skill and imagination. In returning to the beginning, the plot has to devise a way to make that feel like a progression for the characters, rather than a regression. In other words, they have to gain something by reverting to the start.

From there, they go out on a journey that&#39;s filled with tribulations. At the end, either by choice or circumstance, they&#39;re dropped right back off where they started. Despite that, they&#39;ve grown in the interim, so they aren&#39;t 100% the same as they were initially. The movies are potent because that idea is crystal clear in their respective stories.
